The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is the target of 30-year-old gunman Patrick White in August 2025 who believed the Covid vaccine caused his severe physical pain and suicidal thoughts. 

 

White fired approximately 200 shots and shattered more than 150 windows in the federal building. He killed responding DeKalb County Police Officer David Rose who engaged with White at the CVS across from the center.  White died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
