Oprah Winfrey visited Agnes Scott College in May of 2017 and spoke at the womens school commencement.  She was invited to be the keynote speaker while filming the HBO movie “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.” Oprah would have attended the graduation without an invitation, the first of her 'daughters-girls' graduated college.  

 

The first of the children educated at the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa graduated from college in 2017.  "1 down 9 to go this year," Oprah posted on Instagram.  "Congratulations Sithoko who came to my school a girl in 7th grade.  Today a proud young woman.  Perfect Mother's day gift for me."
